A posting about crows. Sounds fun and interesting, doesn't it?
Well, ok. But, it was sort of neat.
We have a family of crows around here. They tend to travel, so we only see them once a week or so. I think they must just go around the area, finding goodies and snacks. The problem I see with these guys is I think they scare off the little birds (or eat them, whatever). And, they are LOUD in the summer and fall when they visit. But, they keep the cats entertained when they come by on their weekly fly in.
Yesterday, as I was driving home, I was stopped at a quiet stop sign, getting ready to turn onto the little road to heads home. I notice a big crow (and these boys are BIG), sitting in the crosswalk with something in his beak. It was a nice round biscuit. Nice, pretty biscuit that I am sure was made with loving Canadaland hands (ok, or frozen). He took his biscuit and dropped it on the road. I watched. He had put it in the middle of a puddle. He waited a bit, and then turned it over. He was softening up that biscuit!! And it was obvious he had done it before. WOW, now that's a smart bird.
