A bit nervous

I am just a tad nervous about this move. It won't be that terrible and for some reason, I really am enjoying this new world-most of the time. I guess it helps to shake things up every once in a while. But . . .

But, I do like to be settled. I want my bed in the bedroom, my desk and printer set up and the kitchen set up. I never did get this kitchen set up the way I wanted it. You know, the dishes, etc in places that just seem right. Some just never seemed right. And now, I am going to a smaller kitchen. Much smaller. The kitchen here is pretty big. Not as big as St. Louis (and really, that's not fair to compare after we redid the kitchen there). The kitchen on the lake isn't really that small. It just doesn't have the storage I am used to having. First thing . . . set up the kitchen. Yep, that's my goal. That and the bed.

Here's a couple little tidbits:
I can't pronounce the town or street of the new house. French-half the letters are not pronounced. And those that are tend not to sound like you would expect. And sometimes, I have noticed that with the locals, some words or sayings come out a bit like a cat with a hairball.

The mail is delivered to a group mailbox situation. Hmmphh. I go from walking down my driveway to the mailbox, to a house where the mail is delivered through the door, to a house where the mailbox isn't all that close. Not that it really matters. Boxes and packages are delivered by mail truck to the house at a different time of the day. And lets be honest, packages are the best type of mail! (Hint hint)

MainMan will ride his bike to work until its too cold or bad weather.

#2 will drive or go to the train station and take the bus to school. I think when winter really hits, he will take the bus. I see him tiring of the ice and snow very quick.

#1 is pushing for a boat. Keep pushing #1. He wants a small row boat with a little motor. The neighborhood frowns on big, flashy speed type boats.

The dock isn't out yet. That means, if we want a dock, we have to put it out. The neighbors have offered to help.

We get the keys on the first. We are meeting the previous renters and walking through. Then, its move time. We have a week to slowly move all the small things before the real movers come. Yeah, a week of mess.

I bet the boys spend the night at the new house on the first night. We shall see. The one drawback is that we won't have the Internet set up at that time. Ohhh, no, NO Internet. Maybe they won't stay there the first night.

Good luck!
I gotta go check out the UW campus for student orientation.
It's going to be so weird having a roommate... We're all going through changes.

I wish you the best of luck on the move. We moved, what, almost seven months ago and I just finally found the box with the TV. Tell THAT to my cousins. We've had to watch tv on the computer! Granted that does mean we've had our internet set up, but even that took about three weeks because our provider failed to mention that they needed a key to the little room with all the wires until we'd called them back the third time.

See, weird stuff happens our here too ; )

Hey, Trish-how do you watch TV on your computer? All the links don't work for me here. It might be a Quebec thing-they tend to do things differently at times. Do you watch US tv? The boys don't watch a lot of TV now. But they all love to watch reruns of House and Larry watches all his favs on Friday night (think science fiction, etc).

And ANNIE- good luck hon. You will LOVE going off to school. It will take some time to get used to it, but in a month or so, you will love it. Trust me.
