Why God gave me boys

I have decided, I wouldn't be a great mother to girls. Well, maybe just a bit. But . . . then again-nope.

First of all, if my daughters looked like my niece or Michelle, I would just plain lock them in their rooms until they were 35. Of course, I would have to make sure the windows were locked too.

I look at my niece who is just starting to grasp young adulthood. I wonder how my brother feels when he sees boys glaring at her. And you know they do. Does he just pretend it doesn't happen? Or does he freak out like Michelle's mother did-worrying herself sick for a couple years? Nice that she has gotten past that part of mothering (ooorrrr has she?!?)

The other part where I am sure I would fail-the clothing aspect. Emergency clothing aspect. You know, with boys, the options are pretty small. Pants, shirt. Fancy pants, fancy shirt. Yep, that covers it. But . . . girls........ OMG. The selection is endless. Plus accessories. (boys . . . accessories are pretty limited-a watch maybe).

My niece was invited to a special party. She had it all down pat for the day-dress (yep), shoes to match the dress (yep), fingernail polish, makeup, jewelry . . . you know the deal-a closet full for one party. Then the DAY of the party, my niece finds out that long dresses are requested. OMG. She has a short dress. Somehow, her mother (my sister in law, i.e SIL), was able to borrow a dress (not easy when you figure the kid is like a -1 in dress sizes), get new shows and nail polish AND not lose her mind. WOW, super mom.

Where as, I would have melted down and said-sorry kid-let's forget the party and go out for lunch or something. Ah, the reason God didn't give me girls. I would have failed. But HE know who would make it happen. Yep, my SIL. You rock Sue!

You are too funny. I did almost say "well you're just going to wear the short one".

Do you get the 'Modern Family" that's on ABC. Last week the ex-wife came to the family to get "closure" on her behavior at her ex-husband's wedding. She needed it as she was going to move to a foreign country with her boyfriend. And that foreign country was CANADA, FRENCH CANADA!!
We thought of you and Larry.

The middle one-blong hair, curls and tiny. Yeah, sort of like me except for the tiny part. LOL

And Michelle's mom worries just like Katie's mom, Alex's mom, Taylor's mom, Sara's mom, ....

At least your niece didn't spend $300 on a long dress, then take it in for alterations and have it cut off! Then find out that most of the girls were wearing long dresses! LOL But, as long as she felt good in it - I guess that's what matters. It's a good thing that she had to pay for 1/2 that dress or mom would have been real upset! And she has used it already down there in the south where the southern girls dress up and don't drink beer!

LOL, well tell Michelle to go over to UGA and see how much beer a southern girl can drink!!

Glad that she can wear that dress again. And it was cute as a short dress. Just think, she paid for half a dress and ended up with half a dress. :)

(I only used Michelle as an example to shorten the blog. If I put everyone who freaked over their kids, it would have been too long to post)
